Our Faculty

Our team has decades of education experience combined with real-world professional skills from outside the classroom. They are committed Christians who are active in their local church community and demonstrate a love for Christ, for children and for education.

Michael Kern

Director

Mr. Kern is the senior pastor at Calvary Chapel Desert Light. He previously worked at a local charter school for nearly 20 years where he served as the Director of Technology and taught middle and high school technology and media courses. He was also a school board member.

Jamie Gentner

K-1 Teacher

Miss Gentner spent most of her career as a journalist for various print outlets. She more recently served as the Volunteer Coordinator for a Las Vegas non-profit. Gentner holds a bachelor's degree in journalism with an emphasis on print and internet.

Jayme Marquis

2-4 Teacher

Mrs. Marquis was an elementary teacher at a local charter school and also taught at our community college. More recently, she ran a private micro-school across multiple grade levels for the past several years. Marquis is K-12 Special Education certified and holds a bachelor's degree in Elementary Special Education.

Donald Gadd

Middle School Teacher

Mr. Gadd teaches Bible, Science and Math courses. He previously taught middle school science at a local charter school. Gadd holds a bachelor's degree in Secondary Biological Science Education.

Paul Martin

Middle School Teacher

Mr. Martin teaches ELA, Literature and History courses. He previously taught at a private Christian school in Kingman, AZ. Prior to that, he had a long career in law enforcement. Martin is a licensed Christian counselor and holds a bachelor's degree in Social Sciences.
